Say Shava Shava
Our love of Bollywood dance is entirely due to the influence of Samantha Riggs of Boom Boom Bollywood and Domba fame. She is a truly remarkable teacher and avid Bollywood fan. We were hooked after just one workshop with her and have subsequently watched Bollywood DVDs galore! This dance is based upon choreography from the film KK3G. We were inspired to create it to convey the innocence and coyness in the relationship between the leading man and lady. Barbara provides a very convincing and amusing leading man while Claire and Diane compete for “his” affection in a very theatrical performance.
We use a remix of the original soundtrack by DJ eternal. The contrast of the Bhangra beats and traditional Bollywood music help to accentuate the difference between masculine and feminine moves. As always our names for our moves are far from authentic (Smack the audience, Coca cola, the Frog and funky chicken to name a few!), but we hope that you find our representation worthy and fun to watch.
