The Dreamtime
The
beauty and excitement of dance is that it transcends all boundaries, so that
you can easily blend music and movements from across continents. In this dance,
we do just that! The starting point for us here was the music. It is an
eerily evocative piece by Ganga Giri, and incorporates the Australian sound
of the didjeridu on his CD called Tribe Vibe. The track itself is
called Nungabunda and is one of our longest dances at over six
minutes. What inspired us was the introduction to the CD -In the beginning
was the Dreamtime and so we began in foetal positions on the floor, grew in
strength and confidence during the dance and then returned to floorwork at the
end, so it formed a life cycle. Our costumes were tribal in appearance
(including luminous paint) and we hope one day to use a smoke-effect for our
opening. This is one of our favourites as it is so original and creative in
choreography. We hope you agree!
