American Beauty/Crystal Method
If ever there was a dance that summed up "fusion", this is it - music, choreography & costumes. We start with the soundtrack from the film "American Beauty", our moves are slow and precise; incorporating tribal combos, Bollywood poses and Mudras. The music takes us on a journey of enlightenment, building in strength and beauty, halfway through we introduce a switch of tone - a darker, sexier side with attitude. We mix in a track by the group "Crystal Method" and introduce strong funky hip-hop movements (inspired by Domba and The Uzume) along with African and Egyptian moves. After 4 months of preparation we are delighted with the outcome....now the costumes.....but that's another story ! Let's just say you'll never guess how they were made !!
